Brief
History
Pursuant to Section 11 of Republic
Act 10121, otherwise known as The Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Act of 2010 and Sections 1 and 2, Rule 5 of its Implementing Rules
and Regulations, the existing Provincial, City and Municipal Disaster
Coordinating council are now individually referred to as Provincial, City or
Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
On
May 24, 2013, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) were
initially installed located at the ground floor of the City Mayor’s Office,
this city. There were there (3) employees designated, Mr. Haron Damada Jr., being the Action Officer, Mrs. Lorie Bongcawel, the Research and
Planning Officer, and Ms. Gigi B. Tolcidas,
the staff Clerk. A few weeks after, a huge number of newly hired employees had
been assigned to the office. This circumstance enables the executive head to
encourage for the creation of the City Disaster’s Operation Team.
Finally, on the 2nd day
of July, 2013, through Executive Order No. 35, Series of 2013, The Pagadian
City Risk Reduction and Management Council had been reorganized, and Pursuant
to Republic Act No. 10121, its functions were defined and able to provide
funds. Thereafter, through Executive Order No. 36, series of 2013, by virtue of
power vested to Hon. Romeo P. Pulmones,
the Pagadian City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office has been formally
institutionalized.
The established City Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management office (CDRRMO) in the City of Pagadian is directly
under the office of the City Mayor and responsible for setting the direction,
development, implementation, and coordination of disaster risk reduction and
management programs within its territorial jurisdiction.
